The problem with “just pick the cheapest tape”

  • Check your order frequency: If you buy tape more than twice a month, invest in Scenario A infrastructure (like a tape machine). If it’s sporadic, go with Scenario B’s premium rolls.
  • Trust gut feel, but not too much: I used to think “strongest tape” was always best. Then I calculated the waste: using reinforced duct tape for every box added 40% to annual tape spend with zero benefit for standard shipments. Don’t over-engineer.
